V.I. Pete aka Pete-erupt is 1/3 of the famed Bay Area rap trio “The Hoodfellaz” (with Johnny Cash and Y.S.) from Richmond California. V.I. Pete was released from Contra Costa county jail on his birthday after being incarcerated for a year. Himself and three friends were exonerate while his childhood best friend and musical inspiration “Dr. Bombay” was sentenced to 27 years in prison. Determined to pursue another path, his love for music would be his way out of the streets.
“The Hoodfellaz” collaborations with Hip-Hop pioneer C Bo’s legendary rap group “The Mobfigaz” can be still be heard today throughout United States as well as internationally. Projects like “The Jacka” (Rip) first solo album, “Camp Mobfigaz” and others paved the way for their first album titled “From Grinding to Shinning”. Bay Area Super producer “Rob Lo” of Black Opera productions enhanced the group sound and reinforced their lyrical talent. V.I. Pete introduced his captivating melodic, harmonizing sound to the world on Rob Lo’s “Street Epidemic”, album with the breakout track “In the streets”, which showcased his vocal skills something that had not been done by a Bay Area artist at the time. V.I. Pete’s versatility allows him to seamlessly and effortlessly switch from a lyricist at its finest to gifted hip hop/pop star at the drop of a hat.
V.I. Pete stands to be one of the most entertaining rap artists of his time. In memory of legendary slain rap star and Money Gang Co-Founder “Johnny Cash,” Jonte Cash (Johnny Cash’s Younger brother), Rydah J. Klyde, (MobFigaz/Money Gang), V.I. Pete (HoodFellaz/Money Gang) and the Money Gang Mobb continue to keep the legacy alive.
V.I. Pete is most definitely an artist for the ages. In 2013 he dropped the “Welcome V.I. Pete”, MixTape online and now he’s at it again with “Welcome to the VIP Vol. 1″ and the visual release of the first single from the project “Surgeon” featuring Tigg. V.I.
