Rapper XXXTentacion debuts his new album ? at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 this week, giving him his first leader on the all-genre tally. The musician’s latest full-length collection starts at the peak with relative ease, kicking off at No. 1 with 131,000 equivalent units. Of that sum, only 20,000 are actual sales, which shows just how popular XXXTentacion’s music across on streaming platforms.

The quizzically-titled ? is XXXTentacion’s second full-length album and his second top 10 effort on the Billboard 200. Less than a year ago, he debuted in the runner-up slot with his debut proper album 17. In addition to his two most popular titles, he has also released a slew of EPs and mixtapes, one of which came close to breaking into the Top 40. His 2017 mixtape Revenge peaked at No. 44 just a few months before 17 reached No. 2, which shows an impressive rise on his part.

? has produced XXXTentacion’s biggest hit on the Hot 100 to date, as the album’s lead single “Sad!” has already reached No. 17 on the all-encompassing tally, despite the fact that it’s been out less than a month. A second song shared from his latest album, “Changes,” has peaked at No. 47 thus far.

XXXTentacion is one of a number of young, ambitious, exceptionally hard-working hip-hop artists who have popped up in the past few years and wasted no time in making a name for themselves. The 20-year-old’s first appearance on the Hot 100 was back in mid-2016 when his own single “Look at Me” became his first Top 40 hit, rising all the way to No. 34. In the less than two years since then, he’s tacked on 10 additional appearances on the important ranking, both as a lead act and a featured artist, and he’s placed a pair of albums inside the Billboard 200’s top two slots.

XXXTentacion’s output is especially noteworthy, and it’s likely that before 2018 is over, he’ll have another collection of new tunes out, though what form it will take isn’t clear. In 2017, he released four projects—an album, a mixtape on his own, a mixtape with a group (known as Members Only) and an EP—and he is probably already hard at work on his next release…though he may want to take a moment to celebrate his success this time around.
