Here’s what @TheRealRedman said toXXL while doing promo for his newly released album, Mudface:
XXL: Will fans get to see another Blackout 3 album in the future?
Redman: Absolutely. We actually want to make it the soundtrack toHow High 2.
XXL: So when is How High 2 dropping?
Redman: Yeah, How High 2 is not going to drop until at least 2017. The writers are still writing the script. Just looking at it time-wise and being realistic about it. By the time we shoot it, get it edited, color corrected, that’s going to be a year or so, so yeah, about 2017.
So not only are we not getting How High 2, but if another Blackout album is dependent on its existence, we’re never getting that either.
Normally, I’m an optimist. I see the glass as half-full 9 times out of 10, but we’ve been hearing about this sequel since the first one dropped 14 years ago. That’s 14 years of broken promises, 14 years of “the writers are still writing the script,” and 14 years of selling wolf tickets.
I can’t do it anymore. I can’t fall for the pump fake or the banana in the tailpipe or whatever euphemism you want to use. And for the record, I’d love to be wrong. But how many times can I play Charlie Brown to Redman’s Lucy? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me habitually year after year…shame on you, homie.
This flick, along with State Property 3, ATL 2, and Friday 4 or The Last Friday or whatever they’re calling it in imaginary land, will be dropping on the 12th of Neveruary at a theater near no one. Since you won’t be getting a sequel…ever, here’s my favorite scene from the classic original.
