Rappers Meek Mill and Big Sean and Diddy took to social media yesterday shedding light on the water tragedy in Flint, Michigan. It began like many things in hip-hop: a rap beef.
This past weekend, 50 Cent and Meek Mill got into a rift via social media after the Philadelphia rapper dissed Fif on his new 4/4 EP. In usual fashion, 50 Cent berated his nemesis for hours on Instagram while Meek Mill opted to keep it brief on his end. yesterday evening, the MMG star has turned a negative instance into a positive as he recently announced that he will be donating $50,000 worth of water to Flint, Michigan.
The midwestern city is currently in a state of emergency after lead contamination of their water. Relief efforts are currently underway but Meek Mill took matters into his own hands after he was tweeted directly by a fan who put things into perspective. He immediately took a screenshot of the tweet and shared it on his Instagram while name checking 50 Cent, asking the Queens rapper to match his donation. He took it a step further by asking all other entertainers to do their part.
And according to Mill’s latest post, he made good on his initial response.
And now other rappers are looking to help.
@MMFlint what can we do to help?
